A very warm welcome to the east Scotland industrial town of Falkirk.

 

Falkirk stands proudly between Edinburgh and Glasgow in the Forth Valley, once a major industrial centre for steel and manufacturing, Falkirk produced the traditional pillar post boxes found throughout the UK, now though is most notable for the Falkirk Wheel on the Union Canal.

 

The town is a great place to stay. Experience many attractions during your visit to this area of Scotland including a monthly farmers market with delicious fresh local produce held on the first Friday of each month in the town centre.

The Battle Of Falkirk

 

William WallaceHistorically there were two battles of Falkirk, the first featuring the famous figure of William Wallace at the first battle of Falkirk in 1298 (part of the First War of Scottish Independence) against Edward The First of England, the second battle featured the Jacobites under Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1746. Rugby and Football are the two sports followed passionately. Falkirk Rugby Club was established in 1972 and Falkirk Football Club play at the Falkirk Stadium. Also known as 'The Bairns; Falkirk Football Club was established 1876.
